The 2022 NFL Draft is complete and several elite college football programs used the offseason’s biggest event to market themselves among the nation’s most respected talent producers with a couple surprises as well. Kirby Smart and Georgia have recruited at a high level, evidenced by the program’s national championship last fall and record-setting number of draft selections, including No. 1 overall pick Travon Walker.
Walker was a mid-first projection after the title-game victory over Alabama before mesmerizing scouts at the NFL Combine, when his draft stock reached supernova status among other edge rushers and notable defenders. The numbers don’t lie — nine former 247Sports Composite five-star recruits were taken in the first round, including LSU’s Derek Stingley Jr. and Oregon’s Kayvon Thibodeaux.
Unfortunately, only one of those programs ranked inside the top 10 of colleges who produced the most picks this cycle.
