The Echo Studio gets spatial audio processing technology custom-built by Amazon. The company says that its in-house spatial audio processing improves the stereo sound of the speaker, delivering greater width, clarity, and presence. Another feature to arrive at is the frequency range extension, which promises to improve the mid-range clarity and deepen the bass.
Amazon says that the spatial audio technology for the Echo Studio is customised as per the acoustic design of the speaker. The technology incorporates digital processing methods – upmixing and virtualization – improving the width, clarity, and presence – of stereo soundtracks, television shows, and movies. Further, the listener feels close to the source of the sound.
The spatial audio technology of Amazon turns its Echo Studio into a high-fidelity stereo system. The vocal portion of the soundtrack lies in the center soundstage, while the stereo-panned instruments shift to the side, said to create a more immersive listening experience.
The two audio features – spatial audio technology and frequency range extensions are added alongside the already present Dolby Atmos and 360 Reality Audio from Sony . These two features will roll out to the Echo Studio via an over-the-air software update.
