Michigan changed up the Big Ten in 2021 by defeating Ohio State and then winning the Big Ten Championship. The Wolverines made the College Football Playoff for the first time, and they could certainly do it again in 2022. But since Ohio State looks retooled, it is quite the challenge. But what if both teams made the College Football Playoff?
Two teams from the Big Ten never made the playoff in the same year, but 2022 might be the year to change it. Or at least, it’s very bold. The Late Kick host Josh Pate opened his mailbag and saw that bold prediction and then promptly responded with the likelihood of it happening.
“‘Both Ohio State and Michigan will make the college football playoff this year,’” Pate said, reading the mailbag. “How unprecedented would this be? Totally because it’s never happened for the Big Ten. The only two times that teams from the same conference have made the playoff, it’s been both teams, the Georgia-Alabama combination both times … I made this a nine on the boldness scale.
