The Philadelphia Eagles spilled the beans on Thursday night. While they lost their first preseason game to the Pittsburgh Steelers, 24-16, the Eagles showed the NFL world that they have a very intriguing wideout on the roster — and he’s no longer a secret.
“One thing I was thinking about, though, as I walked up here was Quez isn’t a secret anymore,” Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts said in his postgame press conference. “So, that’s unfortunate.”
Hurts was speaking of wide receiver Quez Watkins, who was the game’s leading receiver with 79 yards despite catching just one of his two targets. As for the pass he didn’t catch? It would have been a 98-yard touchdown. Hurts just overthrew him in a play he would like to have back.
The Eagles gave Watkins another chance later in the first quarter with Joe Flacco at the helm, calling his number via screen. Watkins again showed off his speed, and took his one reception 79 yards to the house for the first score of the game.
