Tracy Engel, director of the River Valley Regional Food Bank, received the Hormel Foods’ “Hometown Hero” award Wednesday at the Hormel Foods/Planter Peanuts facility in Fort Smith.
The award honors Engel’s work and the success of the River Valley Regional Food Bank. The food bank, along with its partner food pantries, normally provides 65,000 meals a month, which has increased during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Hormel first introduced the “Hometown Hero” award as a hockey-style jersey in 2019, to recognize people and organizations who positively impact their communities.
“We are honored to have Hormel Foods/Planters as an incredible corporate partner,” Engel said. “Our long-standing relationship has led to a great partnership with the company. We appreciate Hormel/Planter’s dedication to fighting hunger in the River Valley and are grateful for their continued support.”
