The Cheboygan County Kiwanis Club will host two sporting events — a trail ride and the Summer Sports Spectacular — this coming Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 21 and 22.
The Cheboygan County Kiwanis invites the public to take part in the Pedaling 4 Education trail ride. This community bike ride will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 21, and will follow a flat two-mile route from the trail head in Cheboygan (corner of Western and Lincoln avenues) to the USCG Mackinaw at the mouth of the Cheboygan river.
Registration is $25 (cash or check) and will take place at the trailhead. Coast Guard members ride free.
Food and refreshments will be provided by Kiwanis. Once at the Coast Guard station, small groups will be able to receive a tour of the yard and the cutter Mackinaw.
The goal of Pedaling 4 Education is to raise awareness about the great need for classroom supplies in all schools and grade levels. The registration fees will help provide such items as books, maps, art supplies and other educational materials necessary for student success.
