Ole Miss has gotten a wave of players through the NCAA transfer portal. From the ex-USC duo of quarterback Jaxson Dart and tight end Michael Trigg or the eight other players that joined head coach Lane Kiffin and the Rebels, there are high expectations surrounding a program that is oozing with talent and potential. But on The Rich Eisen Show, Kiffin noted that results and more important than anything else.
“A lot to replace,” Kiffin said. “We already had 12 major college transfers come in, in the transfer portal, so we’ve got to replace a lot of really good players that were good kids, like Matt (Corral). So that won’t be easy. It looks good on paper. People say, ‘Oh, you guys were No. 1 in the transfer portal.’ Who cares.
That doesn’t mean anything. You don’t get trophies for that. And just because things look good on paper and good players doesn’t mean they mesh together.
“Look at basketball, NBA basketball. These teams are supposed to be great, but just because you have a couple great players on the rosters doesn’t mean (you win). That’s not how it works. So we’ve got a lot of work to do putting them together, getting them to buy into the culture and all that.
