Free-agent cornerback Richard Sherman spoke for the first time since his arrest on Wednesday, saying in an Instagram post that he is “deeply remorseful for his actions.”
“I behaved in a manner I am not proud of,” he said. “I have been dealing with some personal challenges over the last several months, but that is not an excuse for how I acted.”
The 33-year-old went on to talk about the importance of mental and emotional health, and vowed to get the help he needed.
“I love and support my husband. I am committed to helping Richard get the support and care that he needs,” Moss said Thursday in a text message to The Athletic. “Richard has always been a loving father and husband. And we are looking forward to seeing him at home with his family.”
Sherman was arrested in a domestic violence investigation and booked Wednesday morning. He was released without bail on Thursday and had another court appearance scheduled for Friday afternoon.
