Tennessee football is a trendy pick to make a ton of noise in 2022 with Hendon Hooker leading the way. The explosive, talented quarterback took over for Joe Milton III and shined in 2021, completing 68% of his passes for 2,945 yards with 31 touchdowns and just three interceptions. If Hooker makes another sizable jump in 2022, he could be in the mix for the Heisman Trophy.
But the Tennessee quarterback isn’t worried about that. Hooker has invested a ton of time this spring. Hooker noted he’s spending at least eight hours a day in the Vols’ practice facility, and he’s become Tennessee’s version of a player coach.
He’s watching film with multiple position groups. He’s working with the strength and conditioning staff daily to transform his body and also recover quickly. If Hooker wins the Heisman, it’ll be due to the work he put in during the offseason.
“Honestly, my thoughts are on finishing spring ball and winning ball games,” Hooker said. “The accolades will come later.””I would definitely say the chemistry from the offense and the offense to the coaches and them knowing who they want in certain positions who they feel comfortable with what guys are good at different things and I feel like the chemistry hast been the biggest difference this year than last spring.
