The 2022 Texas State 7on7 Championships started Thursday with Division II and Division III action among the small-school brackets. Here’s a quick rundown featuring a handful of prospects who caught our attention during Thursday afternoon’s action at Veterans Memorial Park.
Drelon Miller, 2024 WR, Silsbee: if a top performer were tabbed from Thursday’s small-school pool play, Miller would likely claim that title. We saw Miller repeatedly go up to claim contested throws for touchdowns, displaying impressive explosive athleticism and body control with dexterity to match. Miller’s athleticism in pads and 7-on-7 is aided by his prolific basketball ability, which saw him produce 17.5 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 2.1 steals. Miller, a top 15 prospect in TXHSFB’s 2024 class, has garnered more than a dozen offers, including Arkansas, Baylor, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Texas Tech, and Texas A&M, among others.
Jadon Porter, 2024 ATH, Lorena: like Miller, Porter earned an early Top247 four-star designation thanks to his stellar sophomore campaign and overall athletic profile.
